A friend of mine heads up a transgender activist coalition in Uganda. She told me a couple of years ago that it is “always the trans” who has the hardest time in the battle for LGBT rights. At the time, I didn’t understand to what degree. Trans rights are the hardest to come by it seems – not just in Uganda but in Texas.
You owe it to yourself to watch the video of the good people of Lumberton Intermediate School who express rightful outrage that this woman’s job is even in question; and for the token jackass who doesn’t want Ms. Klug around the children.

Houston Feminist along with the ACLU of Texas issued a much-needed action alert yesterday:
Texas has a RFRA (Religious Freedom Restoration Act) like the anti-gay RFRA Mississippi just passed this month that allows denial of rights based on a so-called religious belief. Targeting the LGBT community of course. Can’t have bakers baking giant penis birthday cakes for a gay party. Anyway Jessica Mason Pieklo – author and attorney extraordinaire sent me this:
