Museveni may sign AHB today – need solidarity for Nigeria and Cameroon

Sources from the activist community in Kampala sent an email overnight reporting Museveni may sign the AHB (anti-homosexuality bill) into law as early as today, February 21.  This bill can pass into law without Museveni’s ascent.  If he doesn’t sign it – but doesn’t veto it – by February 23 (some calculations say February 25) it automatically becomes law.  Then, the bill just needs to be re-tabled in Parliament and entered into the official record (referred to as the Gazette).

As we watch Uganda do not forget those in Nigeria and Cameroon.  I have seen support for Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria and reporting on The Gambia’s new posturing on anti-gay sentiment.  But – don’t forget Cameroon.
