I Heart Folksy Gibberish!

(NOTE:  Do you have any folksy gibberish favorites?  Why not use my new Twitter hashtag #folksygibberish to compare notes with other folksy gibberish trackers?)

The moment I am seized by fear that Barack Obama is going to lose the 2012 Presidential election  I am reminded by people like Rick Perry that in spite of himself Obama is a shoe in.

Last night, I honestly could not sit through the Republican debates.  Hilarious as these things may be the Republican circus is tedious and is beginning to take a toll on the ole’ system.

While delighting in back to back episodes of Income Property (love!) over at HGTV now and again I flipped back to the GOP debate. Each time I was greeted with halting nonsense from Michelle Bachmann, rapid fire delivery of the word “Obamacare” or a neck breaking competition between the GOP candidates to suck the mummified penis of Ronald Reagan.

Sadly, I didn’t get to see Rick Perry deliver any of his typically incomprehensible hayseed speak, however I did pick up this gem off the wires:

“The idea that we would put Americans’ economy at … jeopardy based on scientific theory that’s not settled yet, to me, is just nonsense,” said Perry, the governor of Texas. “I mean … and I tell somebody, I said, just because you have a group of scientists that have stood up and said here is the fact — Galileo got outvoted for a spell.”
This is a prime example of Perry’s winning formula:

Honest to God stupidity + stuff that sounds kinda smart (in this instance Galileo) + use of countrified phrases like “for a spell” = electoral gold
